About the Book
From #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us comes a poignant novel about family, first love, grief, and betrayal that will touch the hearts of both mothers and daughters.
Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike.
Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did. By getting pregnant and married way too young, Morgan put her own dreams on hold. Clara doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Her predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body.
With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist. The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris—Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family anchor. But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident. The heartbreaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara.
While struggling to rebuild everything that crashed around them, Morgan finds comfort in the last person she expects to, and Clara turns to the one boy she’s been forbidden to see. With each passing day, new secrets, resentment, and misunderstandings make mother and daughter fall further apart. So far apart, it might be impossible for them to ever fall back together.
I thought it would be hard for Colleen Hoover to top Verity and It Ends with Us in my favorite books from her, but Regretting You definitely did that! Not realizing that this book was on Kindle Unlimited until my sister in law mentioned it to me, I was fully prepared to wait until I had my paperback copy that I preordered back in June here with me on Thursday to start the book. I’m so glad she let me know that it was in fact on Kindle Unlimited, because I started it last night, stayed up way too late last night and finished it this morning after I slept a little bit!
I could absolutely not put this book down! Regretting You was the perfect mixture of contemporary romance mixed with young adult. I went into Regretting You blind, not even having read the synopsis (blurb) before I read the book. I just knew I was going to read it because Colleen Hoover wrote it. I do this with many different authors. I’ll grab one of their books because it’s theirs and fall in love with it!
Can I be honest and say that I actually wanted to cry when the book was over? I just was NOT ready for it to be over. I loved this story. I loved Morgan’s character. I loved watching her be a selfless, strong mother to Clara. Also getting to see how much Clara grew throughout the book. This book was raw, emotional, real and had so much feeling in it.
Life isn’t easy, not one little bit. This book proves that. Regretting You is a book about heartbreak, betrayal and grief. Not only those 3 things, but it’s also a book about moving forward, forgiveness, love and is now my newest 5 star read!
Congratulations Colleen Hoover on your newest masterpiece! You have done it again and I wish you all the success you deserve!
